Collingwood Masters is affiliated with Vic Masters Athletics (VMA) and, as such, our members qualify to compete in VMA-organized walking, track running and cross-country events with athletes from all over Victoria.

These events are organized in age groups, e.g. 40-44 years, 45-49 years, 50-54 years and so on. Accordingly, if you choose to become involved, you compete with others of your own age group.

In addition to the VMA events, there are also annual Australian Masters Athletics Championships and every two years a World Masters Athletics Championship.

The Australian and World Masters championships are held over several days as they consist of many Track, Field and Cross-country events. The next Australian championships are to be held during June, 2017 in Darwin.

As well as providing the opportunity for members to compete nationally and internationally, these championships also provide an opportunity to travel to various places in Australia and around the world, either as individuals or with a group of friends or club-mates.

As is the case with our club, the events organized by Masters Athletics are open to all levels of athletes – there are normally more competitors in these events who simply enjoy participating than there are serious contenders vying for medals in their age groups.
